Mother told them that whomever had been given the duty of cleaning that bathroom that day must REALLY love Jesus; because it was SO sparkling that she must have cleaned it so diligently and purposefully for love of her Savior. And, Mother said, He must be "very pleased with that sister".
This got me thinking.
I often pray while I do housework. (In fact, my article for the FAR Above Rubies site where I'm a contributor, is devoted to that very topic in the month of March...stay tuned for it!)
However, when the children and I get busy with our homeschooling lessons and extra activities...I tend to fall into a mode that "gets 'er done" and that is that.
Mother Teresa's words have awakened a desire for me in this beautiful Liturgical Season of Lent.
I am going to spring clean our home with LOVE and DILIGENCE and PURPOSE.
What a wonderful Lenten journey it will make...cleaning each room as though cleaning for the Master, Himself! I will clean until it sparkles. I will clean for the glory of God.
We are not "just mothers" at home...whose work is menial and worthless.
Mother Teresa also said that the Lord is not concerned with "how much we give...but how much LOVE we put in to our giving!"
As we nurture and educate our children, love and serve our spouses...and tend to the hearths of our homes through the everyday duties and tasks that accompany these things...we are doing an invaluable work!
We are serving the kingdom of God, on earth, AND serving the community...for, in caring for our families and doing our household duties with PURPOSE...we are restoring a simpler, more devoted, more intentional, more meaningful way of life.
This can be life-changing...and thus, can change the world.
