Seeing Children as Blessings

I know that many blog posts throughout cyberspace have been published which state the exasperated thoughts of those mothers with "many" children, who have been subjected to the taunts, insults, persecutions, prejudices, and snide remarks from ever-the-many bold passersby.

However, today, I thought I'd post about the opposite type of experience.

I want to tell about the people of the world who DO see children as blessings and are not afraid to say so.

People such as:

* Our dentist, who is willing to block out a Thursday morning, every six months, so that my husband and I have the convenience of having all ten of us seen on the same day.

*His jolly receptionist, who passes out iPads by the few so that the kids can share them and enjoy some fun activities while they wait.

* His hygienist, who smiles from ear to ear each time she sees us coming and tells me how excited and happy the "Hygiene Team" gets when they see our family's name on the books for the day.

* My mother (and my dear Dad, too, when he was still with us), who always tells my kids that having her house filled with the sound of their voices and giggles is better than ANY medicine ANY doctor can ever offer.

* The ladies and gentlemen of our parish; who regularly tell us how BLESSED we are to have 10 children and how "babies and children" are the JOY of life.

* Other people who live "open to new life" who can relate on so many different levels and will smile, laugh, cry, and smile again...completely understanding what a blessing children really are.

* Visitors to our blogs and website...I receive SO MANY kind and loving comments, emails, phone calls, and letters in the mail that tell me that friends online and readers to our sites enjoy the glimpses they get of our family...that they keep us in their prayers....and that they see what JOY and BLESSING children bring by reading about ours.

So, you see? There are LOTS of people in this modern world who DO see children as blessings. And, I hope that the next time you hear the sour comments (for I realize they are real and they are many in number) you will, instead, recall this post and know that for each "down on large families" type of person out there...there is someone else who thinks that they are wonderful!

I am grateful for each of those people and their love and encouragement and support ADDS to our JOYFUL BLESSINGS!

What a lovely post! and try, we need to remember the positive:) More and more I'm getting the comment from rather surprising people that they wished they could/did have more!

True, Erin! I find that when I respond positively...even to the negative remarks...then hearts can be moved toward JOY and that many times the negative comes from ignorance...some people really do not know/understand what a blessing it is to have many children!
